Perfumes with Pepper
Pepper smells dry, sharp, warm and slightly woody, bringing the nose-tickling liveliness and faintly citrusy sparkle of freshly ground peppercorns into a fragrance. When the type is not specified in a note list, it usually refers to black pepper or a pepper accord.
Natural pepper oils are obtained by steam distillation or CO2 extraction of the berries, and white or pink pepper each add their own nuances. Pepper mostly sits in the top and heart, giving the composition movement and bite. It pairs well with bergamot, cedar, vetiver, rose, incense, leather, lavender and patchouli.
