Perfumes with tea
Tea smells dry, slightly astringent and green, with a gentle smoky or hay-like nuance, giving a fragrance a calm, refined and transparent quality.
An absolute can be solvent-extracted from the leaves of Camellia sinensis, but in most perfumes tea is an accord built from synthetic materials. Depending on the interpretation it leans towards the airy freshness of green tea or the tannic, honeyed, smoky side of black tea. Tea is used mainly in the heart of a fragrance. It pairs with bergamot, lemon, jasmine, mate, fig, musks and woods.
