Perfumes with Nutmeg

Nutmeg smells warm, sweet, woody and slightly camphorous, a gentle spice that recalls winter desserts and mulled drinks with a soft, rounded sharpness. It comes from the seeds of Myristica fragrans, grown mainly in Indonesia and Grenada.

The oil is obtained by steam distillation of the seeds. Its scent is drier than cinnamon and softer than clove. Nutmeg mostly sits in the heart, and sometimes in the opening. It pairs well with lavender, tobacco, cedar, vetiver, tonka bean, orange, rose and leather, and it adds warmth to woody and aromatic compositions.

Nutmeg appears in 5,863 perfumes in the Fisfis catalogue and is used mostly as a heart note.
