Freesia smells light, clean, sweet and slightly peppery, a spring floral with fruity hints and a soapy, transparent freshness reminiscent of a fresh bouquet. The flower does not yield a usable natural extract, so the note is recreated with synthetic molecules.
Perfumers build it from a balanced blend of floral materials such as linalool, producing an airy and luminous effect. Freesia mostly sits in the heart, sometimes in the opening. It pairs well with pear, peony, rose, lily of the valley, bergamot, musk and cedar, and it is common in clean, youthful floral compositions.
