Perfumes with elemi

Elemi smells bright, lemony and peppery, with hints of dill and pine: a fresh, luminous resin from the Canarium luzonicum tree of the Philippines.

The soft resin tapped from the trunk is steam-distilled into an essential oil or solvent-extracted into a resinoid. It behaves like a lighter, more citrusy cousin of frankincense: clean, crisp and gently spicy. Unlike most resins, elemi is used mainly in the top and heart of a fragrance. It pairs with frankincense, bergamot, black pepper, lavender, cedar and vetiver, and lightens incense accords.

elemi appears in 1,757 perfumes in the Fisfis catalogue and is used mostly as a top note.
