Citron smells fresh, dry and lemony with a gently floral, peel-bitter edge, softer and more refined than ordinary lemon, giving a fragrance a crisp citrus lift.
Citrus medica is an ancient citrus species with a very thick rind that can be cold-pressed or distilled; in perfume, though, citron is usually reconstructed from other citrus oils and synthetic molecules. Expect lemon zest, a slight resinous nuance and a clean sweetness. Citron is mostly a top note. It pairs with bergamot, neroli, ginger, green tea, vetiver and musks.
