Perfumes with Bitter Orange
Bitter orange smells fresh, zesty and slightly bitter, brighter and drier than sweet orange, with a pleasant peel-like edge and a green undertone.
The peel of Citrus aurantium is cold-pressed to obtain the oil. The same tree supplies perfumers with several materials: its blossoms give neroli and orange flower absolute, and its leaves and twigs give petitgrain. The scent opens juicy and sparkling, then turns greener and more bitter. Bitter orange is almost always a top note. It pairs well with neroli, petitgrain, bergamot, lavender, clove and woody notes.
Bitter Orange appears in 1,718 perfumes in the Fisfis catalogue and is used mostly as a top note.
