Watermelon yields no usable perfume oil, so the note is built from synthetics such as Calone, melonal and various aldehydes. Calone in particular creates a coolness that evokes both watermelon and sea air. Compared with melon it is juicier, less sweet and greener. Watermelon is used in the top and heart of a fragrance. It pairs with melon, mint, citrus, marine notes, lotus and white musks.
