Perfumes with Violet Leaf

Violet leaf smells sharp, green, slightly metallic and watery, a cool note that recalls fresh cucumber, crushed leaves and a garden after rain. It is entirely different from the powdery scent of the violet flower and comes from the leaves of Viola odorata.

Solvent extraction of the leaves yields a dark green absolute, with France and Egypt among known sources. Its characteristic cucumber tone comes from octadienal-type molecules. Violet leaf appears in both the top and the heart. It pairs well with iris, rose, bergamot, pepper, leather, cedar and musk, and it gives masculine and fresh compositions a crisp green edge.

Violet Leaf appears in 2,625 perfumes in the Fisfis catalogue and is used mostly as a heart note.
