Perfumes with Sea Notes
Sea notes describe a fresh, clean and slightly metallic family of scents that evokes salty air, wet stones, a seaweed-strewn shore and a cool breeze, giving a fragrance an open, watery feel. There is no natural sea extract; the effect is an accord built by perfumers.
Its core is usually synthetic molecules such as calone, which smells somewhere between watermelon and oyster shell, sometimes joined by ambroxan or seaweed extract. Sea notes sit in both the top and the heart. They pair well with bergamot, lemon, sage, rosemary, vetiver, cedar and musk.
