Perfumes with Salt
Salt smells mineral, dry and faintly watery with a warm, skin-like edge, recalling sea salt, seawater drying on skin and coastal air; since salt itself is odourless, it is purely an accord.
The effect is usually built from amber-like molecules such as Ambroxan, Calone, seaweed extracts and mineral-toned synthetics. The result can feel both cool and warm, like sea spray on sun-heated sand. Salt sits mainly in the heart of a fragrance. It pairs with marine notes, citrus, sage, vetiver, caramel, vanilla and musks, and adds savoury contrast to gourmands.
