Perfumes with Rose
Rose smells fresh, sweet and slightly spicy, and depending on the variety it can lean lemony, honeyed, fruity or even wine-like. Perfumery mainly uses Rosa damascena from Turkey's Isparta region and Bulgaria, and Rosa centifolia from Morocco and Grasse.
Rose oil, or otto, is obtained by steam distillation, while rose absolute comes from solvent extraction; the oil is brighter, the absolute deeper and jammier. Rose almost always sits in the heart of a fragrance. It pairs well with patchouli, oud, musk, violet, jasmine, saffron, bergamot and pink pepper.
Rose appears in 26,004 perfumes in the Fisfis catalogue and is used mostly as a heart note.
