Resins describe the general warm, sweet, balsamic and slightly smoky, vanilla-like scent of tree resins and balsams; it is an impression built from several materials rather than one raw material.

The effect is typically composed of natural extracts such as labdanum, benzoin, frankincense, myrrh, elemi, styrax and Peru or tolu balsam, sometimes with synthetic amber molecules. Depending on the mix it can lean towards incense, amber or vanilla. Resins sit in the heart and base of a fragrance and improve longevity. They pair with vanilla, tonka, oud, leather, spices and woods.
