Red apple smells sweet, juicy and gently honeyed, softer and warmer than green apple and closer to candied or baked fruit, giving a fragrance a friendly, rounded opening.
Apples yield no usable perfume oil, so the note is built from synthetics such as damascones, ethyl 2-methylbutyrate and various esters. Damascones add a faint rose and dried-fruit nuance. Red apple is almost always a top note. It pairs with cinnamon, vanilla, rose, peony, pear, woody notes and musks, and suits both fruity florals and warmer spiced compositions.
