Perfumes with Plum
Plum smells sweet, dark, juicy and slightly jammy, recalling ripe purple plums, prunes and fruit liqueur, sometimes with a wine-like depth. There is no usable natural plum extract, so the note is constructed with synthetic molecules.
Perfumers build the effect with lactones and fruity materials, giving a result darker and denser than peach. Plum usually sits in the top and heart of a fragrance. It pairs well with rose, patchouli, cinnamon, vanilla, tobacco, oud, amber and sandalwood, and it is especially common in warm, autumnal and winter compositions.
Plum appears in 3,602 perfumes in the Fisfis catalogue and is used mostly as a top note.
