Passionfruit smells tart, sweet and juicy with a slightly sulphurous, exotic tang, giving a fragrance a vivid, bright and tropical opening.
The fruit yields no usable oil, so the note is built from synthetic materials: sulphur-containing molecules, esters and lactones. The sulphurous compounds supply the familiar sharp facet that also links it to blackcurrant. Passionfruit is mostly a top note and often carries into the heart. It pairs with mango, pineapple, coconut, frangipani, vanilla, citrus and white musks.
