Flowering parts of Tagetes minuta and related species are steam-distilled into tagetes oil, which is restricted in the amounts perfumers may use. The scent combines crushed green leaves, sour apple and a touch of hay. Marigold is used in the top and heart of a fragrance. It pairs with rose, blackcurrant, mandarin, galbanum, green leaves and musks.
