Perfumes with Madagascar Vanilla
Madagascar vanilla smells creamy, sweet and rich with gently woody and smoky undertones: the classic vanilla of cured Vanilla planifolia pods grown on Madagascar.
Green pods are blanched, sweated in the sun and cured for months, during which vanillin develops; they are then solvent- or CO2-extracted into an absolute or extract. Unlike pure synthetic vanillin, natural vanilla also carries dried-fruit, rum and leathery facets. It sits mainly in the base, adding warmth and lasting power. It pairs with tonka, benzoin, sandalwood, tobacco, oud, iris and white flowers.
Madagascar Vanilla appears in 1,314 perfumes in the Fisfis catalogue and is used mostly as a base note.
