Perfumes with Lavender

Lavender smells fresh, herbal, lightly floral and slightly sweet, with a clean, sometimes camphorous character that recalls dried summer herbs and fresh laundry. It comes from the flowering tops of Lavandula angustifolia and its hybrid lavandin, grown in Provence and Bulgaria among other places.

The oil is obtained by steam distillation. Lavender works both as a top and a heart note, and in most compositions it sits closer to the heart. It is the backbone of the fougère family. Lavender pairs well with bergamot, tonka bean, vanilla, cedar, sage, rosemary and oakmoss.

Lavender appears in 12,209 perfumes in the Fisfis catalogue and is used mostly as a heart note.
