Perfumes with Juniper

Juniper smells fresh, resinous and pine-like with a peppery bite: the clean, cool, gin-like scent of the evergreen shrub and its blue berries.

Twigs, needles or berries of Juniperus communis are steam-distilled into an essential oil dominated by terpenes such as alpha-pinene and sabinene. The effect is green, dry and outdoorsy, sometimes with a faint woodsmoke nuance. Juniper is used most often in the heart, and frequently in the opening. It pairs well with lavender, bergamot, black pepper, cedar, vetiver and leather, and is a fixture of aromatic and fougère-style compositions.

Juniper appears in 1,770 perfumes in the Fisfis catalogue and is used mostly as a heart note.
