Jasmine sambac smells sweet, fruity, green and slightly tea-like, a white floral that is fresher and less animalic than classic jasmine while still rich and heady. It comes from the flowers of Jasminum sambac, often called Arabian jasmine, grown mainly in India.
The blossoms are processed by solvent extraction into an absolute, and the same flower is used to scent jasmine tea in Asia. Jasmine sambac sits almost always in the heart of a fragrance. It pairs well with rose, tuberose, orange blossom, ylang-ylang, sandalwood, musk and green tea.
