Honey smells sweet, warm, dark and slightly animalic, a dense, sticky note that combines flower honey with hints of beeswax, pollen and dry hay. Real honey is not used in perfumery; the note is built from beeswax absolute and synthetic molecules.
Its core often includes phenylacetic acid and related compounds, which give the characteristic honeyed and faintly animalic tone. Honey mostly sits in the heart and often in the base. It pairs well with rose, orange blossom, tobacco, cinnamon, vanilla, amber, patchouli and leather, and it adds a golden richness to both floral and gourmand compositions.
