Herbal notes describe the green, dry, slightly camphorous freshness of aromatic herbs such as sage, rosemary, thyme and mint; they are an impression built from several materials, not one.
The effect is usually created from a mix of herb oils and green synthetic molecules. Depending on the herbs involved it can feel medicinal, spicy or leafy, and it gives a composition a natural, clean character. Herbal notes sit mostly in the heart of a fragrance and often in the opening. They pair with lavender, citrus, green tea, vetiver, cedar, musks and florals.
