Perfumes with Grapefruit

Grapefruit smells tart, bitter, juicy and energetic, a citrus rounder than lemon and sharper than orange, with a faintly sulfurous, tropical twist. It comes from the peel of Citrus paradisi, produced in the United States, South Africa and Israel, among others.

The oil is cold-pressed from the rind, and much of its character comes from a molecule called nootkatone, which is also used in synthetic form. Grapefruit appears almost always as a top note. It pairs well with vetiver, cedar, bergamot, pink pepper, mint, ginger and musk.

Grapefruit appears in 9,147 perfumes in the Fisfis catalogue and is used mostly as a top note.
