Fruits describe a general sweet, juicy and lively fruity impression without pointing to one specific fruit; it is an accord built from several synthetic molecules rather than a single material.
The effect is usually created with fruity esters, lactones, damascones and aldehydes. Depending on the blend, red berries, tropical fruit, peach or apple may come forward. The result is cheerful and bright and adds lightness to a composition. Fruit notes are used in the top and heart of a fragrance. They are often paired with florals, especially rose and peony, and with vanilla, musks and patchouli.
