Fig smells green, milky and gently sweet, combining the creamy flesh of the ripe fruit with the sappy, coconut-tinged scent of fig leaves.
No usable oil comes from the fruit, and fig leaf absolute is restricted, so the note is mostly built from synthetics such as stemone and lactones. The impression is of shade under a fig tree in summer: leafy, creamy and slightly woody. Fig sits mainly in the heart and often in the opening. It pairs with cedar, sandalwood, coconut, musks and citrus, and suits Mediterranean-style compositions.
