Perfumes with Damask Rose

Damask rose smells full, honeyed and slightly lemony and spicy: the classic rose of Rosa damascena, the same species sold as Turkish or Bulgarian rose depending on where it grows.

The petals are steam-distilled into rose oil, which is fresher and more lemony, or solvent-extracted into an absolute, which is deeper and more honeyed. Both carry dewy petals, honey and a faint clove nuance. Damask rose is almost always a heart note. It pairs with oud, saffron, patchouli, musk, violet and bergamot, and forms the floral core of many chypres and orientals.

Damask Rose appears in 1,529 perfumes in the Fisfis catalogue and is used mostly as a heart note.
