The rhizomes of Cyperus scariosus are steam-distilled into cypriol oil. Its scent combines elements of vetiver and patchouli with a lightly spicy, oud-like impression, which is why it is a frequent building block of oud accords. Cypriol appears roughly equally in the heart and base of a fragrance. It pairs with oud, vetiver, patchouli, frankincense, rose, saffron and leather.
