Perfumes with Agarwood (Oud)

Perfumes with Agarwood (Oud)

Agarwood, better known as oud, smells dark, dense, woody and smoky, with leathery, medicinal, honeyed and faintly animalic facets that make it complex and powerful. It forms when Aquilaria trees produce a dark resin in response to a fungal infection, saturating the wood.

The resinous wood is harvested in India, Bangladesh, Cambodia and elsewhere in Southeast Asia, then distilled into oil. Natural oud is very expensive, so most perfumes use synthetic oud accords. It sits in the heart and base. Oud pairs well with rose, saffron, sandalwood, incense, amber and patchouli.

Agarwood (Oud) appears in 5,333 perfumes in the Fisfis catalogue and is used mostly as a base note.
