Cherry smells sweet, juicy and faintly almond-like, ranging from fresh fruit to cherry liqueur or candy depending on how it is built.
Cherries yield no natural perfume oil, so the note is assembled from almond-toned molecules such as benzaldehyde and various fruity esters. Benzaldehyde provides the stone-like, marzipan facet that makes cherry recognisable. Cherry sits mostly in the top of a fragrance and frequently in the heart. It pairs well with almond, vanilla, tonka, rose, cacao, rum and musks, and is common in gourmand and fruity compositions.
