Perfumes with Bulgarian Rose
Bulgarian rose smells full, honeyed and slightly spicy with a lemony freshness: the classic rose of Rosa damascena grown in Bulgaria's Kazanlak valley, a highly valued rose material in perfumery.
The petals are steam-distilled into rose otto or solvent-extracted into a deeper, honeyed absolute. The scent is fresh, dewy and alive, with a hint of wine and clove underneath. It is almost always a heart note, placed at the centre of the composition. It works well with oud, patchouli, musk, saffron, violet and bergamot, and it gives chypres and orientals their floral core.
Bulgarian Rose appears in 2,003 perfumes in the Fisfis catalogue and is used mostly as a heart note.
