Perfumes with Almond

Almond smells sweet, slightly bitter, marzipan-like and creamy, recalling amaretti biscuits, almond paste and a faint hint of cherry in a soft, comforting way. In perfumery the main source of this scent is a molecule called benzaldehyde.

Benzaldehyde occurs naturally in bitter almonds and apricot kernels but is usually used in synthetic form. Almond appears in the top and heart, and sometimes in the base. It pairs well with heliotrope, vanilla, tonka bean, cherry, rose, musk and sandalwood, and it adds a warm softness to powdery and gourmand compositions.

Almond appears in 2,568 perfumes in the Fisfis catalogue and is used mostly as a heart note.
