Perfumes with Ylang-Ylang
Ylang-ylang smells rich, sweet, creamy and slightly banana-like, a tropical floral with honeyed, faintly spicy and almost custard-like facets on the skin. It comes from the yellow flowers of the Cananga odorata tree, grown mainly in the Comoros, Madagascar and Mayotte.
The flowers are steam-distilled in stages, and the first, finest fraction is called extra, followed by grades I, II and III. The scent is sunny and full-bodied. Ylang-ylang mostly sits in the heart of a fragrance. It pairs well with jasmine, tuberose, rose, vanilla, sandalwood, coconut and bergamot.
Ylang-Ylang appears in 8,033 perfumes in the Fisfis catalogue and is used mostly as a heart note.
