Perfumes with Violet
Violet smells powdery, sweet, slightly candied and velvety, a soft floral that often recalls violet pastilles, lipstick and the scent of vintage cosmetics. The flower itself is not extracted commercially, so the note is built with synthetic molecules called ionones.
Ionones are also key to the scent of iris, which is why violet and iris often appear together. Violet leaf is a separate, much greener note. The violet flower note mostly sits in the heart of a fragrance. It pairs well with rose, iris, musk, vanilla, raspberry, cedar and leather.
Violet appears in 9,274 perfumes in the Fisfis catalogue and is used mostly as a heart note.
