Rum smells warm, sweet and boozy, with caramel, molasses and a hint of oak barrel, giving a fragrance a dark and comforting depth.

Real rum is rarely used; the effect usually comes from rum ether, assorted esters and vanillic materials, sometimes supported by rum extracts. It brings an impression of dried fruit and woody spice with a slightly alcoholic sparkle at first. Rum shows up both in the opening and in the heart, occasionally lingering in the base. It pairs with tobacco, vanilla, tonka, cinnamon, leather and dried fruits, and suits cosy winter compositions.
