Perfumes with Palisander Rosewood

Palisander rosewood smells soft, woody and gently rosy with a spicy, slightly camphorous freshness: the scent of the Brazilian Aniba rosaeodora tree, valued for its smooth character.

Wood chips are steam-distilled into rosewood oil, which is largely linalool. Because overharvesting led to the species being protected, natural oil is now used sparingly and the note is often rebuilt from linalool and other molecules. It combines a woody floralcy with a light citrus freshness. It sits mainly in the heart but also appears in the top and base. It pairs with lavender, rose, sandalwood, cedar and bergamot.

Palisander Rosewood appears in 1,161 perfumes in the Fisfis catalogue and is used mostly as a heart note.
