Perfumes with Narcissus

Narcissus smells intense, honeyed and green with hay-like and faintly animalic facets; though it looks like a spring flower, in perfume it has a dark, heady character.

Flowers of Narcissus poeticus, gathered notably in the Lozère region of France, are solvent-extracted into a concrete and an absolute. The absolute combines green stems, honey, dry hay, leather and a slight indolic note, and even small amounts add noticeable depth. Narcissus sits mainly in the heart of a fragrance. It pairs with hyacinth, jasmine, iris, violet, galbanum, leather and musks.

Narcissus appears in 1,270 perfumes in the Fisfis catalogue and is used mostly as a heart note.
