Perfumes with Artemisia

Artemisia smells sharp, green, bitter and slightly camphorous: the dry, herbal scent of the wormwood and mugwort family, giving fragrances an aromatic bite.

Leaves and flowering tops of various Artemisia species are steam-distilled into essential oils; some, because of constituents such as thujone, are used in restricted amounts. The impression recalls thyme, sage and a hint of mint, like dry hillside herbs in the sun. Artemisia appears in the top and heart of a fragrance. It pairs with lavender, sage, juniper, cedar, vetiver and patchouli.

Artemisia appears in 1,630 perfumes in the Fisfis catalogue and is used mostly as a top note.
