Perfumes with Amberwood
Amberwood smells dry, warm and radiant, with a slightly salty, mineral woodiness; it is a modern synthetic woody-amber accord rather than the wood of any real tree.
The effect usually comes from molecules such as Ambroxan, Ambrocenide and Iso E Super, which combine amber-like warmth with a sharp, dry woodiness. They project strongly and cling to skin for a long time. Amberwood is overwhelmingly a base note that anchors and extends a composition. It is frequently paired with vetiver, patchouli, cedar, black pepper, grapefruit and musks.
