Powdery perfumes
The powdery accord is a soft, dry and slightly sweet scent family that recalls face powder, baby powder or the inside of a vintage makeup compact. It adds a velvety texture to a fragrance and rounds off sharp edges.
The effect usually comes from orris root, violet and ionones, heliotrope, the coumarin found in tonka bean, musks and aldehydes. It tends to bloom in the heart and base, staying fairly close to the skin with a calm projection. Powdery notes often sit alongside florals, vanilla, musk and woods. Because it reads clean and polished, it suits office wear and daytime, while sweeter, vanilla-leaning versions come into their own in cooler weather and in the evening.
The Powdery accord appears in 62,672 perfumes in the Fisfis catalogue. Below are the most popular scents where it leads.
