Patchouli perfumes
The patchouli accord is based on oil distilled from the leaves of the patchouli plant, native to Southeast Asia, with an earthy, woody, slightly camphorous and sweetish smell. It can feel dark and damp, but also cocoa-like.
Distilled patchouli oil and its cleaner, refined fractions are the main materials, and much of the character comes from the molecule patchoulol. Patchouli sits in the base and is very long-lasting. It pairs often with rose, vanilla, amber, woods and cacao, and it is a key part of classic chypre fragrances. Patchouli-heavy scents suit autumn, winter and evenings, while refined, lighter versions work well in the daytime too.
The Patchouli accord appears in 17,011 perfumes in the Fisfis catalogue. Below are the most popular scents where it leads.
