Oud perfumes
The oud accord recreates the dark, woody, animalic and slightly smoky smell of oud oil, which comes from agarwood trees that form a fragrant resin in response to a particular fungal infection. It sits at the heart of Middle Eastern perfume tradition.
Because natural oud oil is rare and expensive, most modern fragrances build the effect with synthetic oud bases, woody molecules and leather or animalic notes. Oud sits in the base, with strong projection and long-lasting wear. It pairs often with rose, saffron, amber, leather and incense. Its intensity makes oud fragrances especially well suited to autumn, winter, evenings and special occasions.
